    Remington 700 replacement barrel

Hello all. I'm looking for a good place to purchase a replacement barrel for a R700 SPS I have. Looking to go from a 20" barrel to a 22"-24". Preferably something with a heavy contour and threaded. I've looked over the selection on Brownells but wasn't seeing anything that fit the bill. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks for the input Wes. I saw a few on Brownells but they were all 26", SS, and not threaded. I wanted to make a point to check their website though because I know their top notch barrels

My dad gets them, and just has them threaded here locally. Loves them on his PD Rifle

That's always an option I suppose. Not sure who locally I'd go to, but I know several guys that work as machinists. I have a lathe and would love to learn how to do that myself. I know the lathe is capable.

Yea, if you can find someone, may be an option, then practice on an old barrel till you learn

    Remington 700 replacement barrel

I’ve used shilen, Douglas, lilja, krieger, and even el cheapo Adams&Bennet. They’ve all been really good. The Adams&bennet shoots 1” groups, which is fine for me for a hunting rifle, the others shoot .5moa or better. If you get them already threaded, they usually come short chambered and need to be finish reamed anyways, so I usually just order a blank and have my gunsmith chamber thread crown and headspace it all a the same time. That way you can get the contour and length you want too.

Thanks for the input. I can definitely see the logic there and I like the idea. I guess my first step ought to be finding a quality gunsmith here locally. Never needed one before [emoji848]
